1) The DEC Alpha microprocessor.
2) Alpha software: very early release of software. Alpha releases of a program are generally very unstable and are meant for testing purposes only, not general usage. The intent of an alpha release is to receive bug reports from the general user-base, not just the regular developers and testers.
