America's Army is an online/team First Person Shooter based on the Unreal engine. It has an extensive training mode, and rules of engagement that steer the player toward cooperative play. It is freely distributed by the U.S. Army, and can be downloaded from a number of mirrors (with a directory at the official website).

America's Army is the first, and so far only, state use of videogaming for political ends. Although the creators are slightly evasive about their reasons, most people recognise AA as an army recruitment tool, public relations exercise or both.

Install

The download is an executable which decompresses into /tmp before installing. If you get an error to the effect of "signal caught, exiting", you need to do a --help and use the switch that decompresses into a different directory.
