BioKnoppix is a 2004 derivative of Knoppix (Debian). A single live CD distribution, its focus is on molecular biology. It includes several tools for the analysis and viewing of sequence data, including such specialized applications as Artemis, Bioconductor, Bioperl, BioPython, ClustalX, Cn3D, EMBOSS, IimageJ, and Rasmol.
A key benefit of this distribution is the ability to examine data from the hard drive regardless of the installed operating system.
