Blackdown is a project to port Sun Java software (JDK, Java3D, JMF, etc.) to Linux on different platforms (including i386, x86_64, and Sparc). Sun also officially supports Linux since the release of the Java 2 platform.

The Blackdown project has been releasing ports of Java SDKs for Linux since version 1.1 and still releases their own version based on the recent version from Sun. Blackdown improves certain features (see their release notes for specifics) and also makes Debian packages available from their mirrors.
