An emulator is a program that simulates an entire computer or similar device on a computer or other similar device. (Yes, that's ambiguous; we'll get there)

• Common uses include gaming; many people simulate outdated consoles on their computers. One can even plug in real console gamepads to one's computer using special adapters to further replicate the "console feel".
