Gnoppix, like Knoppix, is a Live CD distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (woody). Woody has been enhanced by some unoffcial packages for the GNOME desktop and a newer XFree86.

The basic difference between Gnoppix and Knoppix is that while Knoppix uses the KDE desktop environment, Gnoppix uses the Gnome desktop environment.

Gnoppix uses Discover for hardware detection as its developers feel that there is something wrong with Kudzu and it does not detect hardware on all the machines.
