Google

Google is an extremely popular Search engine that is a font of knowledge of any variety. It's particularly useful for Linux users and users of open source software for finding answers to problems that happen, or for deciphering cryptic error messages.

If googling for information on Linux, try the Google Linux page at http://www.google.com/linux

Google Facilities

  • Google Groups provides an indexed Search facility that can find messages posted to many news servers, and allows the user to Post messages to join the discussion. The disadvantage is that Google Groups is always several hours out of date, so it is better to use a News reader for Newsgroups where you are actively posting and reading messages.
  • Google News allows the user to search or browse general online news reports.

To google

To google, verb, is to use google to discover information about something or somebody. Example, "Hey Ernie, I googled your new girlfriend last night and it seems she's a real hot item on the webcam circuit."
