How to intall on Ubuntu 6.06

As of 2006.8.15 Gourmet Recipe Manager cannot be installed via Synaptic Package Manager. Gourmet Recipe Manager requires the python and metakit libraries which can be installed via Synaptic Package Manager.

Here are the packages to install:

1. libmetakit

2. python-metakit

Once the python and metakit libs have been installed, you can simply install the debian package by double clicking it. Ubuntu will launch Package Installer. You need only click on the Install Package button at the top right.

Note, however, that an iconic launcher is not installed in any of the menus, Desktop or application panel. You must create those yourself. Launchers generally require command text and an image file for an icon.

The command you will need to launch your newly installed program is

/usr/bin/gourmet

You can find the icons you will need here:

/usr/share/gourmet

You can create a launcher in the menu using Alacarte Menu Editor under Applications/Accessories

You can create a launcher on the Desktop by right-clicking and selecting Create Launcher... from the contextual menu. An launcher can be created in a similar fashion on the launcher panel.
