OpenOffice.org's Impress is open source presentation software. It is intended as the main competitor to Microsoft's Powerpoint presentation software and is compatible with .ppt slideshows produced using that package. Impress uses XML, an open standard for document management as its own format with Impress files utilising a .sxi extension. Impress is available under a number of platforms including Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, Mac OS X and Windows. Impress comes as part of the free, open source OpenOffice.org office suite.
