Kwrite is one of the best text editors.

Access an ftp site using Konqueror, open, edit and save your file with Kwrite, and Kwrite will instantly auto upload your file for you when you save.

Kwrite also supports the fish protocol - you can open a file on any computer you can access with ssh. If you are on computer foo and have a computer bar in your network, try to open fish://youruser@bar - it will let you edit files on the remote computer, provided you know the password there.
