MSN is otherwise known as the "Microsoft Network". In a nutshell it is Microsoft's large collection of online news and communication services. The most famous product to come from this is MSN Messenger, an Instant Messaging client for Windows. Although created for Windows, many Linux alternatives exist such as aMsn and Gaim.
