(Redirected from SCANNING)
If you want to convert a paper document of any kind into electronic form, you need to have a scanner.
While scanning into an image is fine for pictures and sketches you probably want to convert the image into letters when scanning a text. On Linux there is a program called gocr available that will do this task for you. But be warned: it is not working too well, and will not preserve the layout of your document.
How to do it
SUSE
With the SUSE Linux distribution, scan like this:
yast2 scanner
- use the scanning software:
xsane
