The Linux Documentation Project (TLDP or the LDP for short) is a Linux websites on the Internet. It started as a FTP site in 1992, and moved to the World Wide Web in 1993. The LDP is not an official incorporation, but instead is a loose collection of volunteers. As its name suggests, its mission is to serve as a place for Linux hackers to share documentation in the forms of Guides, HOWTOs, man pages, and FAQs.

The Linux Documenation Project and this Wiki

The LDP is a rich source of documentation for Linux, and because of this, would be a great resource for the LQWiki. Unfortunately, the documents collected by the LDP are covered by a variety of licenses, almost all of which are not compatible with the Creative Commons (attribution, share-alike variant) license used by the LQWiki. Some individual LQWiki contributors are attempting to contact the individual authors of LDP documents for their permission. This attempt is not an official LQWiki project. To help out with this effort, or to request LDP documents to be incorporated next, please visit Talk:Linux Documentation Project
