This is technically incorrect, NAT does a 1:1 mapping of addresses. It is PAT which converts multiple private adresses to one public address (according to my teachings anyway). Though it is probably sufficient to lump the two together as long as the difference is described. Hope you don't think I'm being too pedantic :)

Geniarse, I didn't write the NAT wiki page, but thanks for the info. I don't think you're being too pedantic. Why don't you just go ahead and correct the page? :) Also, perhaps even mention the term IP masquerading.

I'll get on that should get first draft done for monday and the PAT page. However I've never configured NAT on a linux router, I only have experience in that area with CISCO routers so I might need some help with that aspect if anyone feels up to it?

What is RFC 1918, chopped liver?

Before CISCO "invented" NAT, there was an RFC, 1918, which described it. IP address ranges where set asside for private IP addresses. RFC 1918 was a big deal: without it, we would have had to migrate the whole planet to IPv6.
