WiFi or Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) is the name of the wireless technology using the range of standards defined in the IEEE 802.11 specifications (e.g. 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n etc.). The name comes from the Wi-Fi Alliance, a (nonprofit) industry group of organizations working together to promote, standardize and certify WiFi products. Hardware products bearing the WiFi Certified logo are verified to be compatible and should interoperate.
