X Northern Captain

Northern Captain is yet another X file manager. It is well-maintained and working well, it does have icons though, but most of them can be disabled. It also maintains a < 3 MB footprint.

It has full compatibility with Norton Commander keys, whereas Midnight Commander lacks page up, insert, and the home/end keys.

It also has transparent decompression from tar.gz and many other archives, has command assignment per extension, built-in picture and file viewer (hex as well) and a few other surprises.
