Examples

I have visited this site about 10 times, and always, an example fstab would have been enough. Users (like me) tend to forget "was nfs under options or under file system?" and things like that, so the line

[Device] [Mount Point] [Filesystem] [Options] [dump] [fsck order]

is pretty useless - I get that quicker if I do man fstab. So, let's focus on examples --ThorstenStaerk 07:53, June 10, 2008 (UTC)

The example fstab has been updated to have more information, although I think some more example entries would be appreciated. Z8z1q1 (talk) 02:19, August 21, 2024 (UTC)

Rename Page

I feel that the page should just be called fstab rather than /etc/fstab. Generally people speak of editing their fstab, rarely the whole path and file name. Maybe this and other similar pages would have a standard location section to help with searching and search engine indexing. Pigzag (talk) 08:18, April 5, 2019 (EDT)

/etc/fstab has been moved to Fstab. Z8z1q1 (talk) 02:19, August 21, 2024 (UTC)

UUIDs & Labels

UUIDs and labels are used in multiple places besides fstab (kernel cmdline, cryptab, ..) for referencing specific devices. Volume label has not been created yet. Z8z1q1 (talk) 02:19, August 21, 2024 (UTC)
