JFFS, the Journaling Flash File System is especially suited for use on flash memory cards.

Features:

  • No emulation layer (which normally makes it look like a normal harddisk)
  • Does wear leveling (flashcards normally have only a limited amount of 'erases' per block. Wear leveling tries to spread erases over all blocks, thus increasing the lifespan of the flashmemory)
  • Journaling

There are two versions, JFFS and JFFS2.
