Kubuntu is an Ubuntu-based distribution that comes with the KDE Plasma desktop, instead of Gnome which is the default for Ubuntu.

It has both 32-bit and 64-bit editions making it an option for both old and modern computers. It is supported until 2021 (Kubuntu 18.04). If you like to customize desktop, this could be your choice. Kubuntu is fine for an average system. If your system has RAM over 2 GB, you should be fine with it.
