Office tasks

Most distributions include at least two office suites: OpenOffice.org and one of KOffice or GNOME Office; major distributions include all three of them and probably some more. Suffice it to say that these are the three most important ones.

Word processing

• OpenOffice.org brings OpenWriter
• GNOME Office has AbiWord
• KOffice has KWord

While you're word processing, you may also have to type Accented Characters. This guide shows you how.

Spreadsheets

• OpenOffice.org has OpenCalc
• GNOME Office has Gnumeric
• KOffice has KSpread

Presentations and drawing

• OpenOffice.org has Impress and Draw
• GNOME Office has Dia, Sodipodi, Skencil and GIMP
• KOffice has KPresenter, Kivio and Karbon14
