A list of some silly,humorous and often not very useful applications.

  • acro -- generate random acronyms
  • AMOR -- Amusing Misuse Of Resources, shows several different characters walk around on your desktop (part of KDE toys)
  • blast -- shoot holes in your X windows
  • cack -- generate random sentences of gibberish
  • cowsay - output text in cool ASCII-art picture of a cow or one of the other selectable animals
  • fortune - prints a random message, often humorous. Familiar to Slackware users as the program that runs at login by default.
  • Lesbian linux distribution, includes porn-get, similar to Debian's apt-get
  • lzip - lossy file compression with the Lessiss-Moore algorithm, can even compress files to 0% of their original size![1]
  • nonsense - generate text and web pages with mission statements, business plans, laws, resumes and many more
  • sl - helps with correcting your typing with the often mis typed ls command
  • vigor - vi with a very helpful 'Assistant' (just like the famous clippy in MS Office)
  • wcnt - wav composer not toilet - a not real time modular audio synthesis program
  • wtf - a part of the BSD games package which defines acronyms - such as "wtf".
