Talk:Grub version 1
- I changed the boot menu section completely, it only contain some weird explenation on how to remove kernels. First of all in the wrong place, it's not really grub related (only the part about removing it from the menu is relevant). Secondly it was not very good, since it only mentioned deleting the kernel image file and not the modules :) Jor 09:45, Mar 21, 2004 (EST)
The last sentence of GRUB boot menu says: "Another common location is /etc/grub.conf but this is often a link file to the /boot/grub file."
I have never seen a file /etc/grub.conf, nor any "/boot/grub file", nor any linking from /etc to /boot/grub.
I *have* seen files called /boot/grub/grub.conf & seen linkage between them & /boot/grub/menu.lst; although it's been so long I forget which was linked to which.
The sec. Debian:
"sarge/testing" . . . uh, Sarge is now "Old Stable", Etch is Stable, & Lenny is Testing.
The sec. Red Hat:
Does this predate Fedora & CentOS? Shouldn't they be mentioned? -- esp. since they probably behave the same was as RH.

This has been moved from GRUB, because this page describes only the legacy version.
I had to remove the lyonlabs.org link (why was it glossed as "www.ameritech.net" anyway?) because the page would not save for me with that line in there. If you want it back, try
