Samba on Redhat 9.0
I an able to add Widnows 9x and Windows 2000 to my SAMBA domain but have logon problem after I add an XP Professional system to the domain. Are there other settings on XP that are different. The error message I get is Domain controller cannot be found. This is right after I add the XP system to the domain, reboot and tried to logout without success. - A computer account is created in Linux - WINS server on XP points to samba server - HOSTS and LMHOSTS files have been modified
Samba needs IP address on FC2,3, but not RH9?
I have followed the fstab instructions on this page, and it works really well!
But: I have to name the target computer's IP address. If I just name it's windows name, it doesn't connect.
The funny thing is, this works perfectly fine on RH9.
On RH9, I can:
mount -t smbfs //dell/share /mnt/dell_share
But on FC2 or FC3, that doesn't work. I have to:
mount -t smbfs //10.0.1.4/share /mnt/dell_share
Is this normal? Do I need to do some additional configuration, not required in RH9?

you should ask these questions in the forum, the wiki wasent ment to anser questions .. but maybe on RH9 "dell" was declared in the hosts file -- SciYro
