Bochs (pronounced as 'box') is an x86 emulator package written in C++ which runs on both Linux and Windows platforms. It is capable of running most operating systems inside the emulation including Linux, Windows 95, DOS, and Windows NT 4.

The recent (as of Jan 2004) 2.x release marks a major increase in performance and compatibility.
