Discover

discover is a hardware identification library developed by Progeny for their distribution and originally based on the program detect by MandrakeSoft. It's now brought to you by the Debian Install System Team.

discover is a library which other applications can use to get information about a system's hardware. There are two versions of discover currently available: The old version, discover 1, used a flat file similar to kudzu's. It has been obsoleted, but is still maintained by the debian-installer team. The new version, discover 2, uses an XML file format and comes with the discover-modprobe utility. Both discover 1 and discover 2 come with the command-line tool discover.

To try it out, run discover all.
