inittab is a configurationfile located in /etc/inittab and contains information and configuration information on the default runlevel and a list of all runlevels (included is a location of another script to be executed each time that runlevel is entered)
It also contains info regarding what command(s) to execute at immediate boot, and there respawn times (this is usually some getty-like program to allow someone to login )
