Leafpad

Leafpad is a simple graphical plain-text editor which closely resembles Microsoft Notepad. It uses the gtk2 widget set but does not have a toolbar containing icons as most gtk-based applications do. Instead all control operations are carried out from the menu bar.

There is no syntax checking or highlighting, so this editor is perhaps less suitable than some others for programming or writing web pages.
