MacOS is the operating system for Macintosh computers sold by Apple. Usually divided into the classic versions (all versions up to MacOS 9), and Mac OS X.
MacOS was one of the first operating systems with a graphical user interface. It was much inspired by what was first developed in Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). First version of the MacOS was released in 1984.
