The pager is a program that allows you to see command line output a page at a time. The default pager is set through the $PAGER variable. The most common pagers are more and less. (Less is like more, only more so. (That is to say, it's more advanced than more. It can actually let you go backward through the text.)) To advance through a pager, hit the space bar. To quit, press q. Both more and less are based on vi.
