Post has several meanings.
It can mean Power On Self Test, a diagnostic that a computer performs at boot time. If everything is okay, the computer beeper will give a short beep. If something is wrong, the computer will give a complex sequence of beeps that will help a technician determine the problem.
A post can also mean a submission to a mailing list, usenet thread, or a forum.
Post is also a Linux command that delivers messages to local and remote users. It is the default program for send to use.
