Talk:Block devices and block sizes

This is horribly outdated! ... 2009!?!?

Specifically:

Kernel block size

Also the kernel has its own block size. This is relevant e.g. for vmstat. In the vmstat man page you find the statement

All linux blocks are currently 1024 bytes.

So, again another block size when you work with vmstat. This is the block size the Linux kernel uses internally for caching and buffering. It is the most prominent of all block sizes.

!! The manual for vmstat DOES NOT contain that statement. !!

Also, I have twice requested, and waited over 30 minutes each time for my "Confirmation email". It seems that "linuxquestions.org" is poorly maintained (if at all). It therefore seems pointless to waste any further time on this. If anyone who GAS reads this, here's my advice: just shut this down... it's a waste of time and money!
