I've got lots of little shell commands which do useful things like mass renaming, etc. Would this be the correct place to add another subcatagory?

Probably here. Unless they're specifically related to a particular command, like 'mv' or 'rename' - if you wanted, the best place then might be to put them under the relevant command. But if you want a grab bag, probably bash tips.

Yeah, thanks... I found it too, in the meantime. :-)

I removed 'grep' - it'd be impossible to keep up with duplications, really, and it's a fine distinction, but 'grep' is already in text processing tools and these are more for commands that act *on* files or their characteristics or the filesystem or files' relations in the filesystem... etc. Whereas tools that act *in* files, or process or change the contents, rather than characteristics or position, of files, should probably go elsewhere.

Something like that. :)

Would it be possible to include a command here to show the space taken up by the file or the directory? J
