Talk:Linux Filesystems
I don't think this is such a good page structure. A lot of filesystem fall in multiple categories. I think this page should be more 'user' orientated, instead of the current implementation orientation. Maybe a subdivision in:
- Types
- Traditional Filesystems
- Journalized Filesystems
- Networked Filesystems
- Misc Filesystems
- Choosing
- Partitioning
- Related links
I think the above organisation makes much more sense perhaps with windows filesystem section for FAT and NTFS. Also now this page has been created shouldn't the other be removed. which brings me to a question, is it possible to remove a page from the database rather than just removing the link, if not who do we report the old page to????

I thinks it's possible to remove a page, I'm just not sure how =) The Filesystems could stay as a brief explanation of filesystem (what it is/does etc.) And that new structure is a good idea, maybe you could do it? Streg 09:29, Mar 9, 2004 (EST)
I'll see about putting a the new stucture on this page. I think this page should probably just list the different types and some general info. And then link to pages like "Choosing a Filesystem", separation of the general knowledge items and the more howto-like items. Jor 17:44, Mar 9, 2004 (EST)
We now have 2 links off hardware page to same page (though different address). Which is going to be kept "Linux Filesystems" or "Filesystems". I believe Filesystems is a better title however most people seem to be using Linux_Filesystems so which is it to be???

I agree. I'd prefer 'filesystems' - shorter. Linux Filesystems is either redundant (this is the LinuxQuestions Wiki, after all) or limiting (we'd probably talk about all kinds if only for comparison's sake).

I'v removed content from this page and placed link to File System page just in case there is a link elsewhere in the wiki to this page and double checked content matched up.

Well ok, but what should have been done is a real move the Special:move page found in the edit box :)
Now it's really confusing, there's a filesystems page with technical definition, File_Systems with the list and this page.
So how about redirecting both Linux_Filesystems and File_Systems to filesystems (I think officially it's 1 work) and on that page explain what a filesystem is, and have links to things like List of filesystems, Mounting a filesystem,Partitioning etc etc.
