Talk:Microsoft

I'd like to request a pause on the Microsoft, CP/M, QDOS articles and everything not particularly relevant to Linux.

We've got a lot of work to do on very fundamental issues of how Linux works - it's a waste of energy detailing QDOS.

Fine. I thought the history of the PC was relevant. Will try to focus on Linux only.

It may be relevant - as I say, "I'd like to request" - it's highly likely the consensus would be against me. But that's my personal opinion.

I think circumstantially, so I tend to go off on tangents. I would think that people would be curious about some of that stuff, it being the history out of which Linux also evolved. I see your point about maintaining the relevance of this site, however, and it's a good one. I think keeping the articles more unified would make it stronger ...at least at this early stage.

Thanks. I agree absolutely that it's interesting - I'm strangely fascinated by Microsoft history, myself. And that's where I think I may well be wrong - you're right about it relating to understanding the context of Linux. At the same time, I think the history of UNIX as a system and the PC as a piece of hardware is more relevant and the MS thing gets overblown. Like Linus says, Linux will ruin MS incidentally, not as a goal. :) Anyway - yeah, at this point there just seems to be a lot of Linux work to do.

"I'm strangely fascinated by Microsoft history, myself." The study of pure evil is fascinating. Like serial killers and the mafia. It's hard to take your eyes off it. ;) Anyway, back to the subject at hand.
