wouldn't it be helpful to add some tools for slackware.
e.g. swaret
helpful pages for newbies:
e.g. slackware book, linuxpackages, etc.

Sure. Don't use swaret myself, but adding anything useful for Slack sounds good to me. :) Don't forget to sign your name on discussion pages with the tildes and to use <br> for line breaks. The last two in this section may help. --Digiot 16:22, Jun 5, 2004 (EDT)
I don't know the details, but I think that swaret is no longer officially recommended and has "legitimacy" issues. slapt-get seems to be the one to recommend first, although there's nothing wrong in mentioning swaret too. MikeCapone 17:59, Jun 5, 2004 (EDT)

I removed the comment saying "generally unpatched" because, by my count, Slackware 9.0's official packages use over 200 patches. (The source tree contained that many files with "diff" in their name.) I understand that the official Slackware kernels, at least, often incorporate few or no patches. --Yath 22:37, Jun 13, 2004 (EDT)
