Wiki Help needs question/answer guidelines

The new user of this wiki needs guidance on how best to use the linuxquestions site. The Help page should answer or link to answers to such questions as:

  1. Where do I ask questions? (LQ forums - http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/)
  2. How do I find the most appropriate topic for a question or an answer
  3. How do I create a new topic or subtopic?
  4. What are the various kinds of posts: Edit page, Comment, Discuss page, etc.
  5. How do I sign my posts?
A few points. First, no LQWiki related content should be put into the main namespace - we have a separate namespace for that. We are working to expand the Help section now, if you see anything missing let us know. To answer your first question, the wiki is not for asking questions. It's meant to be a knowledgebase. If you'd like to ask Linux-related questions you can do so at the LQ forums - http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/ Jeremy 15:29, Apr 17, 2004 (EDT)
To add to that, if you have questions about the Wiki in general and the current documentation in the LQWiki namespace doesn't answer them, the mailing list is the place for those.
Question about Linux? LQ forums. Question about the Wiki? The Wiki mailing list. Question about a particular thread? That thread's talk page.
The main namespace articles should be almost entirely Linux (with some tangentially Linux-related stuff) and entirely answers. Digiot 23:54, Apr 17, 2004 (EDT)
