UAE
Unix Amiga Emulator (sometimes Ultimate Amiga Emulator)
An emulator for all versions of the Commodore Amiga. UAE is released under the GPL. UAE is avaliable on many platforms (even the Amiga itself!) but unfortunately the Windows port is currently quite ahead of the other versions, although an effort is being made here to fix that.
UAE accurately emulates virtually all features of the Amiga and can run several times faster than the fastest 68k-based Amiga. It can also "emulate" a graphics card and redirect the Amiga's display onto the PC without custom chipset emulation, resulting in a fast and high-resolution display.
A product called "Amithlon" was produced which combined parts of UAE and a small bootable Linux kernel in an attempt to migrate the Amiga platform to faster x86 processors. The emulated AmigaOS communicated directly with PC hardware such as soundcards and graphics cards, to speed things up further. Unfortunately the product was cancelled due to legal issues, however the open source sections (eg updated kernels) can still be downloaded.
