SeaMonkey is a integrated Internet suite and the successor to the Mozilla ApplicatiOn Suite. The current stable version is 2.0.3.
Features
SeaMonkey contains all the functionality of the Suite, namely:
- Web Browser (Navigator)
- E-Mail Client (Mail and Newsgroups)
- HTML Editor (Composer)
- Address Book
- IRC Client (ChatZilla)
Installing
The best way to install SeaMonkey is with your distribution's package manager. If it is not in the repositories, or you just want to do it manually, you can do it like this (you will need root privleges):
- Download the latest release from seamonkey-project.org
- Extract the .tar.bz2 file into /usr/local/
- You can now run SeaMonkey with the command /usr/local/seamonkey
To give SeaMonkey an icon in the KDE Menu:
- Right-click on the K Menu button
- Click 'Menu Editor'
- In the dialog that pops up, right-click on the folder you want it in (usually Internet)
- Click 'New Item'
- Type the name you want to give it in the dialog box
- Now, in the sidebar on the right, type '/usr/local/seamonkey' in the 'Command:' box
- If you want, give it an icon by clicking on the big button in the upper right
- Now, close the menu editor (make sure to tell it to save changes)
