Btw, does someone know how to give focus to a window by name from the cli under KDE ? --> wmctrl
- Take a look at dcop, there is an example how to maximize, focus might go similar, e.g. via
dcop kwin

- yes thanks, i did indeed try this one before, it was kde (3.3.2) though ( that i am still using ) so maybe things have improved since then. wmctrl seems to have everything i was looking for, it's just great, and is not dependant on any particular desktop, standards are good.
- I found http://blackboxwm.sourceforge.net/BlackboxAddons#WindowTools yesterday, devil's pie seems to be everything i was looking for too. I very much like the approach of do little but do it good, which of course kde or gnome got away from (though standard things like dbus are a good sign for the future). I might very well take a look at xfce, blackbox and such as i realise i use very little of all the bloat that is KDE. Questynux 11:39, January 21, 2007 (EST)
