To install the Intel WiFi Link 5100 WLAN card, find out your distribution and proceed accordingly.

SUSE 11.1

Install the needed ware: 

yast -i iwl5000-ucode

Use Yast2 to configure your network card: 

yast2 lan

Use iwlist to verify your WLAN card has been properly set up.
