Talk:Configuring and using su and sudo

Rather than describing 'su' here, it'd probably be better to merge this data with the already-existing entry on 'su' and merely linking to that from here - same with sudo and anything else of that sort that will be/would have been added.

Actually, except for connecting those tools explicitly with the security overview, this page isn't necessary. Digiot

I second that. Can the su content on this page be moved to the su article, and likewise for the sudo content? I do not see the point in having this separate page which is likely to remain unfound and unlinked-to. The security advice could be merged into root or elsewhere. LordK 16:11, Apr 3, 2004 (EST)
Sorry about forgetting to sign. Thanks for catching that. Great suggestions. I edited 'security' to point to the proper links and removed the 'see also's from 'su' and 'sudo', so nothing should point to this. And I merged virtually the entire page across 'root', 'sudo', and 'su' as you suggested. If this seems agreeable to everybody, then that should do it except for this remnant. I honestly can't think of a redirect for this - which does it point to and who would use this title on, i.e., a search, anyway? So if nobody would object, I'd think deleting it would be okay but if there's a good idea for what to do with it, that'd be great. Digiot 00:18, Apr 4, 2004 (EST)
And if it's not agreeable, that's the list of pages to revert. ;) Digiot

I'm curious on whether or not the content will be nuked rather than merged... It looks like that person spent a lot of work writing this page, and this content has already been deleted!! if you want to move it, just add the "thinking about merging or deleting" notice on top, and leave the content there for easy copying!! Actually, it looks like it was merged well, good job digiot! (haven't reviewd the pages deeply yet), but please consider the above tip, as it will be helpfull if you forget to merge (which you didn't)
