ThorstenStaerk, I don't particularly care for the chosen page name, because I think something like "Increasing usability"/"Improving program usability" would be better. As for the page itself, awsome. Excellent layout and excellent points made. The page itself is Just excellent! --Sepero 04:19, January 25, 2007 (EST)
adduser, useradd confusion
- I could'nt agree more with the Trivial_usability#Do_not_confuse_the_user section. adduser apparently was originally created for Debian to make a friendlier front end to useradd (see "man adduser"). Maybe the name was chosen in the spirit of "Hey everybody knows useradd so it will be easy to remember adduser as its friendlier frontend!". Except now you tend to forget which one came first...
- One thing one can do is put an alias in its shell configuration file (e.g. .bashrc), something like "alias fuseradd=adduser", fuseradd standing for friendlier useradd. It will also help remember which one came first. A symbolic link could be a good idea too :
ln -s /usr/sbin/useradd /usr/sbin/fuseradd
