LQWiki talk:About
While this page is about linuxquestions.org, it says nothing about Wiki. How about linking to at least the particular wiki software being run at this site?

Johnh, sign your name with ~~~ (Fennec) or ~~~~ (Fennec 23:10, Mar 5, 2004 (EST)). The software name is MediaWiki. It's the same as used on Wikipedia. But I agree. This site also has far too many protected pages (mostly in the LinuxQuestions.org Wiki namespage) and far too few community pages. And its manual of style has nothing on style. These things must be corrected or this wiki will fall apart one way or another.
I reccomend the immediate creation of a general discussion page, a la Wikipedia's Village Pump. I'd aim for a more themely name, though. How about LQWiki:screen -x - just to keep everyone on the same page, so to speak, and bring up community issues. Is that name a bit obscure or wordy or something? I don't know what else could a general meeting place that is keeping in theme with Linux.

Check out these: LQWiki:Community Commons and LQWiki:Forums. They're still in alpha, but any feedback would be appreciated. Crazyeddie 16:49, Jun 29, 2004 (EDT)
LQWiki:About is a great place to post information about the mailing list. --Snags 15:05, Apr 9, 2004 (EDT)
- I added a link to the mailing list. Thanks. Jeremy 17:42, Apr 21, 2004 (EDT)
A link to LQWiki:Administrators would also be good. --Snags 13:29, Apr 21, 2004 (EDT)
I noticed that you guys have added spell check to this MediaWiki version. Is this on a fork of MediaWiki, could it be backported into MediaWiki? I am sure we could use it on Wikipedia. Dori 11:31, Jun 29, 2004 (EDT)
- I've uploaded this question to the mailing list. Hopefully Jeremy will get back to you on this here, if not, I'll let you know what he has to say in the mailing list. Crazyeddie 19:01, Jun 29, 2004 (EDT)
Why are there not alternative skins? I want my old monobook... This skin is just too busy. ARF
As somebody once said, the answer to "why don't they?" is usually money. In this case, precious coder time. Somebody want to put skins on the honey-do list? Crazyeddie 04:45, Sep 7, 2004 (EDT)
- If the Wikipedia skins are open-source with the proper license or whatever, we could just copy them. If we were running 1.3, we could have our own skins. Dysprosia 05:21, Sep 7, 2004 (EDT)
- We will be moving to the 1.3x codebase soon. We're just waiting for it to mature/stabilize a bit, so that we can port all of our modifications. Jeremy 12:21, Sep 7, 2004 (EDT)
